Similar to “like a girl”, “don’t be a pussy” is a colloquialism used to shame someone. Referring to a pussy as weak truly, actually, and medically makes no sense! Pussies clean themselves and they are the only organs that can nurture the miracle of life, thereby furthering the existence of mankind...and more importantly womankind (and everyone in-between-kind). The pussy is so powerful that men are constantly trying to control it (yes, the shady government). In celebration of the dynamic and strong world of the vagina, Pussy Party will envelop the viewer in a life size pussy experience. With an attention-seeking disco ball just yearning for your touch (or metaphorically speaking, the clit), the walls rugated, like the lovely and mysterious vagina canal, Pussy Party evokes the fun, fierce, beauty of the female organ.

In representation of women’s bodies being used, abused, and for lack of better words thrown away, Recycled yarn, fabric, and t-shirts were the main source of material for “Pussy Party”. Imperfect yarn, fabric donated with nicks, and stained tshirts from the trhift store were sourced, hand cut, and woven together into 18’’x200’’ strips. Weaving as “women’s work” is the main source of imagery in juxtaposition with harsh and delicate found textiles to form the different textures.
